If approved by a referendum of the legally qualified voters of election districts 1, 2, 3, 3-1, 3-2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8-1, 8-2, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14-1, 14-2, and 16 in Garrett County, the legislation embodied in this Question, as passed by the General Assembly of Maryland at the 2008 Session, will allow the Sunday sale of alcoholic beverages in those 18 specified election districts (1) by holders of Class C service club licenses and (2) by holders of Class B (restaurants and hotels), special 2-day Class C (clubs and organizations) licenses, special 6-day Class C licenses, and special 12-day Class C licenses, but only if the consumer at the licensed facility places an order for a meal or is otherwise entitled to a meal on the premises as part of a prearranged event, such as a banquet. Sunday sales are authorized to begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m.

Each license holder that will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages on Sundays in Garrett County if this Question is approved will be required to pay $250 in addition to the fee for obtaining the license.

Under current law, Sunday sales that are now authorized in election districts 11 and 15 of Garrett County will not be affected by the result of the vote on this Question.

If this Question receives a majority of votes cast in any of the 18 election districts specified above, it will take effect in those election districts on December 15, 2008.
